Deidra is a singer-songwriter and cover artist extraordinaire from Winnipeg, MB. Backed by an acoustic guitar, her raw and effortless vocals shine through onto the stage. Her lyrical style comes from a place of honesty, personal experiences, and a love for creating music that speaks to people when they need it most. With a quirky, eccentric vibe, and a down to earth personality to match, every performance from Deidra is unique and memorable.
Deidra has been teaching voice and piano lessons since 2016 through River Heights School of Music. Her mastery of pop, musical theatre and classical style enables students to be versatile and adept musicians. She studied Vocal Performance at the University of Manitoba: Desautels Faculty of Music and went on to earn her Bachelor of Music Therapy Degree from Canadian Mennonite University. She strives to create a fun, yet challenging environment for all her students, constantly encouraging them to be the very best musicians that they can be. Deidra also works in long-term care as a Recreation Aide/Music Therapist (MTA certification pending). Deidra has worked with a wide variety of students and clientele in both her teaching and music therapy work, ranging from six years old to over the age of 100, and welcomes all people (age 6+) into her studio.
Deidra just released her first single, "MR. KNOW IT ALL", in October of 2023 which will be on her first album coming in 2024. It is available on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Tidal and everywhere else that music is sold and streamed. (Check the "Events" tab to listen to it on YouTube).
Deidra is currently a part of several projects. She performs duo shows with guitarist, Clinton Giesbrecht, and is the lead singer of Suburban Funk Machine, a five-piece, local Winnipeg cover band that specializes in rock, pop, rap and funk music. Deidra has also been performing with The Flying Haggis Showband as part of Folklorama for the past five years at the Scottish Pavilion.
Deidra has performed twice at the Rockin' The Fields Festival in Minnedosa, MB. In July 2022, she performed with Eh to Zed, a Canadian rock tribute band, and in August 2023 she returned to perform with Suburban Funk Machine.
